I visited there for a few days on vacation and within a 5 minute walk from Union Square (tourist area) I literally walked through the worst neighborhood (The Tenderloin) I've ever seen with my own 2 eyes :merchant:. At 10:30 AM I saw streets of homless people sleeping, drug deals in public and the place smelled like pure shyt. How the fukk a major city going to let this shyt slide without cleaning it up? :dwillhuh:

How many drug infested neighborhoods can you walk through as a tourist without being harassed? I think the police let it slide because the folks in the Tenderloin don't bother anyone other than each other with an occasional murder. You go in and remove the fiends, they will go someplace where they aren't wanted. SF is pretty liberal, and in my opinion, distinct neighborhoods like the Tenderloin is what gives it character.

Reminds me of the first time i went to Newburgh, NY. I never seen so many rotten boarded up but still inhabitated grimy blocks in such a tiny place. shyt was horrific. I had always heard how violent it was, but i understood why once i went there. Everybody there looked depressed as fukk. shyt was a struggle city for real.

:manny:It's the American way. Every big american city has abject poverty concentrated in certain sections. And every so-called bad city has it's money areas concentrated in certain sections as well.
