Top of the card:

5 Val Venis (c) (with Trish Stratus) defeated Rikishi[1][2] Steel Cage match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship 14:10
6 The Undertaker defeated Kurt Angle[1][2] Singles match 07:34
7 Triple H (with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley) defeated Chris Jericho[1][2] Last Man Standing match 23:11
8 The Rock (c) defeated Chris Benoit (with Shane McMahon) Singles match for the WWF Championship 22:09

Basically they booked established guys to go against the future of the business with honestly flimsy buildup...and jobbed them all the fukk out. Imagine this shyt...i will translate this to 2012 terms, with guys on the level as the equivilant in 2000

5. The miz (c) defeated Damian Sandow, Steel Cage for IC
6. Kane Defeated CM Punk Singles Match
7. Sheamus (c) defeated Dolph Ziggler for the WHC Last Man Standing Match
8. John Cena (c) defeated Daniel Bryan (with paul heyman) Singles match for the WWE Championsip

Think of the TSC thread that night :mindblown:

:wtf:

It wasnt about ages it was about who was new to the audience and new blood in wwe. Dont be stupid. Angle, benoit, and y2j were new blood in the wwe and they all took Ls there.

Now, obviously crispin shouldntve gone over rock but jericho and angle SHOULD have gone over....

This thread is speaking anecdotedly but if that shyt happened now we'd be pissed as fukk

That's nothing. The way Austin was booked after he returned a few months later would have had the IWC going even crazier.

His first night back, he beats the crap out of IWC favorite and rising star Kurt Angle in a quick backstage segment like it's nothing. One of his first TV matches back he squashed another IWC favorite Eddie Guerrero in less than 2 minutes. One week he came out during a tag match or 4 way with Jericho, X-Pac, Edge and Christian and beat the hell out of all 4 of them singlehandedly (and for no real reason). Like, imagine Cena randomly coming out during a Daniel Bryan and Kane vs Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes match and killing them all with no explanation as to why.

Then there was the way he treated Rikishi (who was supposed to be getting a big push after he turned heel):

October 9 Raw - Rikishi turns heel and reveals himself as the person who ran over Austin.
No Mercy 2 weeks later - Austin destroys Rikishi and police have to stop him from basically killing him.
October 30 Raw - Austin completely fukking jobs out Rikishi in a cage match. Like, total destruction.

People said WWE rushed the Nexus angle and they got SIX months of main event storylines out of that before Cena ended them. In 2000 they took a storyline with a year of hype and killed it dead within 3 weeks!

Benoit looked good on television and very over against the Rock...and the Rock was much younger than everyone spoken of. Benoit wasnt winning no belt in just 7 months.

Not sure why kept having Jericho lose to Cripple though..probably jealousy. Cripple H was really a mark for wins and losses at this point.

actually this PPV was the FIRST one where all of those guys got main event/high profile PPV matches. it wasn't the same 2-4 guys(rock, hhh, taker, kane, and the mcmahons) in the same spots. again this is a bad comparison. they took 3 mid card guys and out them up against 3 main event guys. they all lost, but it didn't hurt any of them. esp Jericho and Angle(who was still a rookie)

Some of the context may be off, like long-term ramifications, but Ed right as fukk when he said IWC would be heated :lolbron:

I think the only one the iwc might have been mad over would have been HHH over Jericho, just because it seemed HHH always buried everyone.

if you remember at that time in 2000 Kurt wasn't ready to go over Taker at a PPV and the fans weren't gonna buy that.

btw Fully Loaded 2000 was a great PPV. the entire show was good

it's not even a comparison to austin and cena. austin earned his way to the top, cena had the :cape: push

plus austin is way better at about everything
