I kind of get what you're saying about Meek, he was like a hero to the streets, from the flamerz mixtape era to 2015. His beef with Drake and how he uses social media like a bytch killed his aura/status.

I think the last of the “larger than life” type of rappers ended with 50 Cent &,Camron (Purple Haze) and to an extent Jeezy‘s TM 101

and ye ushered in the regular nikka era.

Hit the nail right on the head.

I was telling nikkaz before. This sht was inevitable because there's always been way more regular nikkaz types in the world, think Kanye, Kendrick, Cole etc. Then the mythical super goon 50cent, or ultimate drug dealer Jay, or super smart but thorough ass hood nikka Nas types.

So the regular nikkaz got people to look up to now and they understand them

The ultimate super hero rapper where we believe the nikka is some larger than life figure been long gone.

50 was probably the last one

1. If you're talking about street shyt then we literally just had a serial killer and super goon that sold records in King Von

2. If you're referring to aura/mystique then Kendrick who doesn't use social media, constantly goes months without being seen in public, doesn't give interviews and no one outside his circle really knows a single thing about exists.

3. Number 2 is also the biggest reason Drake just got smoked in that battle. He didn't have great angles to use so seemingly made shyt up as a result.

I’m too old to look at a rapper as a superhero.

MJ was a superhero though 🥹

King von is a nobody. He didn't make it past a certain level. So it comes off as a super crash out.
50 got shot up then became a mega start. Looking madd diesel and sht. So he had they aura about him. Like he was special.

Kendrick is a private nikka but he's a short regular nikka too.
People might like the way he raps. Be he isn't someone that nikkaz wish they could be or some shyt. He don't have that kinda aura.

And that's what helps him against a mega star like Drake.
People just wanna see David beat Goliath
Regular ol Rocky beat Apollo

The last rapper that had that superhero aura and was able to sustain it over a period of time was Kanye West.

EVERYTHING that nikka touched turned to Gold

Plus the story of him surviving that car crash

Him single handedly carrying The Roc after Jay and Dame split

Outselling 50 Cent and bringing an end to Gangsta Rap’s stranglehold on mainstream Hip Hop.

Its why he gets so many passes today for being an insane c00n. Dude really kicked down the door all by himself armed with nothing more than FAITH in himself and changed the course of rap music forever. Drake is Kanye West’ son. J.Cole is Kanye West’s son. Bits of Kendrick Lamar have Kanye West fingerprints all over them. Dude directly influenced the three biggest rappers that came after him.
Don't forget "George Bush doesn't care about black people" when people was like :why: during Katrina. He called that shyt out.

Then he backslid and apologized years later.:snoop:
