yea

basically, Pill was originally signed to Warner Music but at the time they didn't have an urban department and he had no buzz....so they didn't know what to do with him. When Rozay and Gucci Pucci got their MMG distribution deal it was then decided that Pill should roll with MMG to build his buzz up, and get mentored by an established artist. To make a long story short..Wale and Meek signed on the dotted line and Pill didn't. Pill also stated like he felt like the odd man out during their promo runs

No one can make everyone hot, it's about finding the right talent and having the money/backing to sign them.

Gaga did the same numbers as Wale first week, she wasn't even a huge star yet. And he had a bidding war after Interscope. Wale might've flopped if flopping is 200k or maybe it was 300k, when your shyt is horribly promoted, no one expected him to move more than that under his circumstances (i.e. not the definition of flopping). And I've not heard him say that he was damaged good, he said he didn't fukk with interscope and that they were fronting on him. No one said he was not promoted, he was horribly (another word for badly) promoted.

And Meek was buzzing in the whole east coast easily the most buzzing new artist in the east when he signed with MMG, but Ross did a lot more for him than for Wale.
At this point Wale has sold more than Ross even, and this album sold what 150-200k more than the last.

My thing is not downplaying Ross's role, it's downplaying the fact that stardom is not for everyone. Ross could not do shyt for the Triple C's cats, no one could. Just like Eminem couldn't do shyt for D12 dudes when he was the biggest artist in music. And there is a big difference from grinding an artist from the start like Big Sean or Lil Wayne like Kanye/Birdman than grinding a dude with a a million followers on twitter who already moved 100s of thousand copies.

gaga was a superstar by the time she was on that song, why u think jimmy put here on it, poker face was already like one of the best biggest song in 08 and her album was sold a bunch, it was a big topic in hip hop saying wale was selling puttin gaga on his single when his song(chillin) was on his mixtape wit no gaga

he was buzzing in the east and no where else, they have a bunch of other nikkaz that do the same a never become shyt(siagon, vado, joell ortiz) nobody give a fukk bout east coast artist, at the time ross signed meek, vado had more buzz around the world then meek, and he aint shyt and cant sell shyt, so no he wouldnt have moved units where ever he went

before ross wale had a fanbase full of internet clowns who wouldnt buy his album, ross made wale heard by a bunch of people who didnt give a fukk bout him
