I have much more respect for Scorsese’s The King of Comedy

Last time I saw it (maybe over a decade ago) I thought it was whatever. Watching it with fresher eyes and it’s great.

Pupkin was such a creepy weirdo. It’s like when dude caught a break he would fukk it up with hustling backwards.

edit: I wonder how much of the ending was real or his imagination.

It's top ten for me but like 7-8 but I haven't seen every single Scorsese movie but most. But I would say better than Bringing out the Dead but worse than the Color of Money for me.
It's like top 15 for DeNiro, looking at his IMDb I thought it would be lower but wow he has done a lot of mid to trash movies. lol
Combo: It's definitely behind Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Casino, Raging Bull for me.

I haven't seen King of Comedy, but another kind of offbeat Scorcese movie from that era is "After Hours", with Griffin Dunne, which I saw once, a few years ago, and thought had it's charms. Kind of grimy underside of New York sort of theme.
