I hate it when people touch/pick-up the murder weapon in movies.

It happens in so many movies. They find a dead body and just start touching and picking up the murder weapon without a care in the world. :mindblown:

Its so stupid because now your finger prints are all over it and detectives will think you did it. Or a witness will see you standing over the body while holding the weapon and will call the cops on you. :snoop:

Eh....I feel you but at the same time a lot of writers that consult with law enforcement say they :heh: when asked how often fingerprinting actually happens, and how often it directly leads to an arrest. It's not nearly as effective/widespread as we think it is.

The Ghetto of Oz
Plot device

They have to advance the story with this person as a potential suspect

People please stop trying to apply logic to fictional stories ..lol

It's only entertainment

Nah I definitely feel you in real life, but in certain cases actors will touch random shyt in/around a movie/TV show crime scene. Not like it's scripted, they're just acting. Then later the internet, Twitter, whatever will be like "what if someone checks for fingerprints?" when 9 times out of 10 nobody would check any of that for fingerprints.

Not because they don't want to, but because it takes time/money, and the investigation doesn't always have that. So cops ain't running up on every crime scene like :krs: "dust everything for fingerprints!"
