Edit: I just realized they cut Batista's response out of the clip :laff: .... here's the actual transcript:

Batista: "No! I wouldn't have done the same thing. I wouldn't have let my EGO get in the way of my friendship with Ric!"

Shawn Michaels: "I had a job to do, Dave, and I did it!"

Batista: "You had a job to do, but you DIDN'T do it! Oh, that's right, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Showstopper, doesn't do jobs... I tell you what, when I came to the WWE I heard all the stories 'bout your huge massive ego and I never paid one bit of mind to it. Why? I knew you, we were friends! I never listened to that! The Shawn Michaels I knew was a stand-up guy... at least I thought... I was wrong! YOU are the most selfish man I know! Couldn't you have laid down just once? If you'd laid down, just once, Ric would still be here! You couldn't do it, your ego got in the way, you just couldn't do it..."

Shawn Michaels: "I'm sorry you feel that way, Dave..."

Always seemed like an odd premise for a feud anyway.

It's a feud based on Batista being angry about creative control. Basically Batista is saying "Couldn't you have agreed to a scripted finish where Flair wins?".

:heh: I mean, the entire audience knows it's scripted, obviously, but essentially admitting that as part of the dialogue kinda kills the whole idea of suspending disbelief while watching the show.

"Breaking the fourth wall" is one thing, but this feud premise bordered on the ridiculous.

I dont see that as breaking kayfabe, I saw that more as why didnt you let ric win so he could've stayed on the roster, not so much "you wouldnt do a fukking job"

Ah okay. That makes a lot more sense. Never considered that for some reason, I must be jaded.

So Batista is endorsing the idea of giving the paying audience a non-competitive match at Wrestlemania. :lolbron:

We all thought Batista was turning heel but he just acted the way he did for those two matches and went back to being the old Batista as soon as that wrapped up. Jericho was kind of stealing the show during this whole situation too.
