Let's say that somehow the current inhabitants of Earth were made aware by some means (not important as to how) that there would be an Alien Invasion of our planet in 100 years time. Let's remove any doubt and say this information was 100% legitimate and not some disinfo work, and that the information was made to every human being at the same time. The info is that these invaders would be technologically superior, and would come with violence and no regard for human life. There purpose would be to dominate us.

While technologically superior, they wouldn't possess any weaponry that could just wipe everyone off the planet with ease, so there would be battles and skirmishes, and a chance to maybe repel the assault.

Questions:

1) Do Human beings immediately put aside national, religious, cultural differences and unite?

2) Do we finally put economy on the back burner, and push for worldwide cooperative effort in technological, scientific, mathematical, cosmological, and military advancement?

3) If they come, and we defeat them, can humans ever go back to being a divided species?

1) Do Human beings immediately put aside national, religious, cultural differences and unite? Sunnis and Shiites on the same side? People who been at war for thousands of years, nah. Other people who's hate isn't as deep yea.

2) Do we finally put economy on the back burner, and push for worldwide cooperative effort in technological, scientific, mathematical, cosmological, and military advancement? Yes I could see US, China, Russia etc teaming up with their best and brightest to work on ways to defeat the aliens.

We'd be divided again after a month. See anytime people come together for to fight a common enemy.

in some ways. if nothing else, I imagine there would still be much disagreement about what steps to take. as well as those that would argue that this is "part of god's plan" and whatnot

there might be some kind of 'coalition' formed, but I doubt there would be 100% cooperation. and it begs the details of what kind of tech we could ever hope to use to defeat such a superior enemy

yes. I think we've seen it happen on smaller scales

Can't speak on this, I never critically analyzed racial tensions during the Cold War. I guess you can look at how post 9/11 races across the board, united to form a stance against the perceived enemy whom attacked us.

Good luck, trying to convince bible belt thumpers, people who hate science, and people can't concentrate / stay focused still worth a damn....

Survival of the Fittest breh, of course that'll happen. I'm pretty sure humans will find someway to label some sort of race or ethnicity as a scapegoat in general, to blame their problems / hate on. I.E. Jews, Muslims, Tootsie etc.

i think the majority of people would pull together. can't speak for the strict religious folk, they may see it as judgement day and passively let it happen. the southern US would be the problem area, in general.

again for the most part yeah, nations would come together and form some sort of international military force. there would be those who have to be contained, but in that situation tough decisions are gonna have to be made anyway. some people will be killed and/or held in guantanamo bay like prisons.

assuredly. give it 10 years and people will be back at their same shyt. in fact because of the massive damage to the world that's bound to happen i think it would be even crazier if we did win. people would be fighting to gain territory and create new super powers.

1) I don't think cooperation on science etc is divisible from political/cultural differences... what you think, what you are permeates what you think is a good idea. the only way these things work is for large inefficient governance bodies to make the decisions

anyway I think, yes, there would be a high degree of cooperation. But I don't think we should sit here in a siege mentality either.. should put very strong colonies on the moon and mars, further out, hide some remnants of where we've sent other people, try to get to other rock formations too

2) this is an interesting question. The problem is once you skip economic development based cooperation what do you get--command and control? I think certain countries will get very wealthy and powerful and the rest will be like raw material
