I finally binge watched Atlanta and its jarring how better the first season is from the second

the first season is one of the best sitcoms I've seen since the 90s. shyt is funny and smart and the characters are well written. they story is grounded and relatable for anyone from the hood.

The second season went off the rails with that weird shyt that was only sprinkled throughout the first season. There were some good episodes like the barbershop one and the last couple episodes of the season, but the group dynamic of earn, Darius and paperboi that made the first season so dope was absent until the end of the season.

But yeah, 1st season is better IMO but 2nd season held it's own. hoping for more cohesion in the stories in the 3rd season

The show is definitely at its best when it's dealing with the social dynamics of friends, family, associates, etc. and the effect their environment (Atlanta) has on those dynamics. When it starts delving into the esoteric -- the show doesn't work nearly as well.
