Like I said before, I suffer from social anxiety, but mines has decreased over the years. I've always been the type to ask questions, but now I can engage in conversations. I think that comes from me having speech delay. Also, when I get really nervous I speak over my words.

Anyway, for anyone suffering from that take a public speaking class. It will prepare you socially. I once was nervous speaking, but not now. I could give a speech in front of people. Just think of all the people in the crowd naked :dame:

This is just MY advice.

My problem is wierd... I used to be a social butterfly from as long as I could remember up till I turned 17. Became depressed, don't really engage in conversation with anyone anymore that's not family, I can speak to people but sometimes I have this wierd anxiety come over me and others I don't

Like I don't feel the need to speak to people anymore

Most definitely. Coming into high school I wasn't necessarily socially anxious, moreso socially reserved and this spilled into me being uncomfortable in social scenarios. Joined a debate team and took some public speaking classes to fulfill my English requirement, and it's crazy how much of a difference it makes. The ability to be comfortable socially is a huge benefit in today's connected society, and if you have it you're already a huge step ahead of those who don't.

I was like you. Mine started at 15 when I got heartbroken from puppy love. Also, I lost all the people who I thought we my friends. I did distance myself. Because those same people came around my Senior year. I learned to always be yourself. Now, being around people has helped me to become and adapt to society. Like I said, go take a toastmasters class and volunteer more. Hate to say this, but having past arguments and standing my ground really helped me to develop my skills.

Toastmasters did wonders for me. I never had "social anxiety", but I had a fear of speaking in front of people so I took a class. There was a brotha in there who actually had social anxiety and to see where he ended up from where he began was :obama:.

There is a Toastmasters at my local Community College. I may go up there to check it out. Is a whole class just public speaking or are there other activities that were done?
