I used to be asleep, I used to try and kiss other races ass, I used to try to beg racists whites to change but now I only focus on my own.

Ever since I got my nikka wake up call way back in high school I have been on a path to being more human.

Throughout the years afterward I started to see the world for how it really is and I actually enjoy being woke. I feel like back then when I decided to focus on my own I took my first step to being a man.

I have seen two topics where members talked about how they miss when they were ignorant and now they feel sad knowing how the world really is but for me I feel the opposite. I now feel happy, I feel complete, I feel like I went from sub human to human. I can now look at other groups and know that Im on even level as them and will pass them someday.

That is all and peace to my brothas and sistas.

Anybody who feel the same as me feel free to say their experience. Anybody who doesnt can keep it moving.

Good to see that we are on the same page now.

The strangest thing was realizing that the way I am now is how other groups have always been.

Like I was that crazy guy talking to myself on the street when I was asleep and one day I became sane and started to have interactions with those around me.

Feels great man

Im glad im woke too but it can be a burden sometimes. You can come off as "that serious guy" or the "no fun guy" when you bring up certain topics, but people like us are needed. But most importantly, APPLYING what we know and spreading the knowledge to others is on our shoulders.

Also, the more i post here, the more i realize that everyone cant be saved. :mjcry:

For me the hardest part about being woke is that my peers and the people surrounding me aren't woke. I'm young (21) and I see so many young black people on this "I don't see color" "whites can say the n word around me" and "racism is over because I date white people" phase. I guess I can't really complain because I used to be sleep myself. It's truly irritating sometimes but thank goodness I know at least a couple of black people my age that seem to be conscious.

That is true.

Yet with recent events I do see that many of the people around me are getting closer to where Im at mentally so there is hope.

Yep.

Being woke is about finally thinking about the greater good. Once we awoke we shake our head @ selling crack, slutting out some young women, tearing each down instead of each one teach one.

Being woke is not about being militant and hating the white man, its really about loving your black women and men in the community and seeing all the threats coming from both whites, blacks, and other races.

good thread. I'm happy that I'm woke and I actually look forward to the future. The thought of economic unity, like black Wall Street, excites me. I also realize that there are many blacks who will have to be left behind.

I do look at everything different these days though. From sports, to news, to music the anti black agenda is consistent. Watching empire I literally was :what::why::mindblown: the same exact caricatures from the 1800s are still being played out in prime time and our people are eating it up. I've downgraded my cable but I'm about to dead tv all together.

The most frustrating thing is that there's more asleep than awake. The sleeping ones are so loud and constantly saying ridiculous wizard of oz shyt to me. No matter how hard you shake them they stay asleep. Its kind of like in inception, they need a kick to snap them out of it.
I was semi sleep. I didn't think anyone was better or worse and I never cared about white people. I didn't think they we're particularly beautiful, smart, special or anything. I did think that things that happen to black people are caused by our own actions. Now I see that it's all according to plan. My wake up was actually when I went natural with my hair. I had no special attachments to my straight hair but I was surprised by how other people we're attached to straight hair. I thought my hair was the cutest ish ever but getting into natural hair and understanding why black women we're adverse to natural hair led me down a path of loving myself and becoming wide awake. But I need to cut down my internet time because there's too many sleep walkers that make me go to bed angry and cursing. Around 7pm I try to stay off of forums and newsites and just chill. I need to keep my sanity.
