Police: Fort Bliss man, 19, stabbed pregnant woman Updated: Thursday, October 31 2013, 03:47 PM MDT By: Jesse Martinez and Ruben Veloz EL PASO, Texas – A 19-year-old Fort Bliss man is accused of stabbing a 31-year-old pregnant woman Wednesday night. The victim was inside her home when she was allegedly attacked by Corey Bernard Moss. Police received a 911 call from her home on the 4900 block of Wichita around 7:10 p.m. According to investigators, Moss was waiting inside the woman's home when she arrived and stabbed her several times. The victim had stab wounds on her face and body, and she received several fractures from the attack. The woman was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, and her unborn child is in good condition, police said.
Police said Moss owed the woman money for vehicle repairs, and they believe that to be a motive behind the attack. Moss was later found by Fort Bliss Military Police and turned over to investigators. He was charged with criminal attempt capital murder and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. His bail was set at $60,000. Maj. Stephen G. ****, a spokesperson for Fort Bliss, released the following statement regarding the alleged incident: “The incident is under investigation and, as such, we cannot provide any details. We are also unable to speculate as to what may have taken place. The investigation into this matter is being conducted by the El Paso Police Department and Fort Bliss is cooperating fully. We pride ourselves on the professionalism of the Soldiers within our ranks. Behavior such as these alleged actions are not representative of the men and women who serve at Fort Bliss. Our immediate concern is for the safety and welfare of the victim. We are monitoring her condition and our thoughts and prayers are with her for a full and quick recovery.”
