Mid 1993, NY radio station Hot 97 changed its format from dance to Hip Hop. Around 1994, Hot 97 literally becomes 'the home of Hip Hop.' Big names like KRS and Grand Master Flash and The Furious 5 were hosting shows on Hot 97. New DJs were popping up with names like Angie Martinez and Funk Master Flex. To really bring it home Hot 97 brought in Ed Lover and Dr Dre from Yo MTV Raps fame to host the morning show. The morning show was probably the most succesful show during the time. NY heads who were there remember.

Anyway Ed Lover and Dr Dre also had this co host named Lisa G. This was before the internet so access to seeing what this Lisa G really looked like was limited. She was a milf type white woman who had this cool vibe about her that worked for what Ed and Dre were bringing to the table. Overall, Ed and Dre made history hosting the morning show on Hot 97 from mid to the end of the 90's. The established self proclaimed 'King Of All Media' radio shock jock Howard Stern at the time was pretty much the king of morning talk radio in NY. Now I cant tell you about the ratings between Howard Stern and Ed and Dre because when listening to radio I didnt give a damn about that stuff. But I do remember this. When Ed and Dre became the morning hosts for Hot 97 they made a phone call to Howard Stern and clowned him. Before hanging up Ed told Howard something to the likes of 'tell your mom I found her panties under the bed'..Straight clowned him. Howard at that moment probably had a flashback to his high school years in Long Island when he was in that all Black high school being bullied.

By the early 2000's Ed and Dre were replaced by Star and Bucwild for the Hot 97 morning slot but would later appear on the new radio station Power 105 to host their morning show. Lisa G was part of the team in the beginning but would later jump ship. By this time Ed and Dre's style was being outdone by Star and Buc wild and in 2005 Star would again replace Ed Lover as the morning host for Power 105. Howard Stern on his end was still killing morning terrestrial radio in NY by early 2000's and by the mid 2000's he would become the promotional face of satellite radio. Fast Foward to the year 2012. Ed Lover has been kinda MIA after looking off from defending Mr Cee before knowing all the facts during that tranny controversy which totally threw off the momentum of his lil comeback with the "Come On Son" webisodes that were gaining popularity on the internet around 2009. Howard Stern on the other hand is the hottest thing on satellite radio where his craft is properly placed in next level radio on top of being the host of a popular reality show called America's Got Talent. One day on Howard Sterns' satellite show that lil moment back in the mid 90's where Ed Lover clowned Howard finally comes back to haunt him.

Lisa G who was part of that whole Ed and Dre team in the 90's is now working on the Howard Stern show. A conversation arises about one of the Ed and Dre's shows most popular segmants. The segmant is called "The Roll Call." "The Roll Call" usually consisted of 3 or more callers calling in and the caller would spit 2 lines about who they were and another 2 lines about their city. They did this every morning on Ed and Dre's show and it was usually backdropped with a beat that was real popular at the time (If I remember correctly the first beat they would use was Snoop Doggy Doggs "The Shiznit" instrumental....a month or 2 later they switched it to Snoops "Gin and Juice")....Now this 'Roll Call' thing was big on Hot 97 in the 90's.....But in 2012 Howard is acting like he doesnt know anything about it. Howard doesnt even acknowledge Ed and Dre's impact which was obviously visible in the 90's NY. Howard basically is playing it off like he doesnt remember Ed and Dre's legacy in the mid 90's on NY radio and its ether at its finest. Hear it for your self:

Listening to this reminded me of that moment when 50 Cent had P.R. beef with Camron and on an Episode of Rap City where 50 was hosting, Jim Jones came out of nowhere and gave 50 a pound like it was all good. Notice towards the end of part 1 Lisa G refers to the new "Flavor of the month" that took over the Ed and Dre show in 2000, which was Star and Buc wild. Lisa G pretends like she doesnt remember Stars name because Star was going in on her very disrespectful when they were competing on urban radio in the early 2000's. In 2002 Ed Lover went as far as addressing it in XXL about how out of line Star was for going at Lisa G so she's lying when she says she doesnt remember who. If I remember correctly, Star said something to the likes of Lisa G is a servant for n!ggers so she needs to come over there and do her job and get under the table and service him. I remember she took offense to that to the point where she made it public.

man no disrespect intended with this post but people have been doing the roll call forever. AL B. SILK was doing the roll call on WAMO 106.7 in pittsburgh when i was 12 years old (this was in 1994). i don't think ed and dre can even lay claim to it because in the grand tradition of radio i am sure it was stolen from some nobody DJ and made popular. stern stole lots and lots of stuff as well. his career is built on a lot of thievery and i will openly admit that despite being a huge stern fan from 1990-2007. and i grew up with Yo! MTV raps so i am not saying that ed lover and dr. dre weren't groundbreaking and pioneers but the roll call nonsense on stern was a low point even when the show was fading to the crap it is now.

can't state enough though that i have a lot of love for stern, star and bucwild, ed and dre, and even al b. i remember you couldn't call aliquippa PA quiptown due to gang issues.

Ed and Dre came out with that Roll Call thing in 1993...Prior to that it wasn't being done. I'm sure ya boy jacked it from Ed and Dre if he did it a year later. Ed and Dre were real popular like that.

You posted some longwinded b.s about howard stern and now awknowledging dre and ed lover and 3 videos about some drama from some girl not remembering some bullshyt from 1993 that honestly means absolutely nothing.

notice the responses in this thread reflect the reality that this post was honestly a bunch of nonsense

U say that as if I was looking for a bunch of responses.......The lack of response comes from the fact that this generation isn't up on Ed and Dre like that.......This isn't for you. This is for anyone who rememberes Ed and Dre's legacy on Hot 97......Keep it moving.

whoa who whoa.....hold up a second....u think Ed and Dre were lame on Hot 97??? I'm not gonna even lie...U might be the first person I ever heard say that......I thought they were holding it down something serious in the 90's. Even Star said Ed Lover outdoes him when it comes to Hip Hop morning radio. Yes Their legacy will always be Yo MTV....But thats not where it ended......

are u saying that from a personal perspective or are u being objective and looking at how they laid it down on radio without any prejudices?? You're making it seem as if they weren't laying it down in the 90's. I'm not gonna lie...The Roll call got corny after a year......But They were still laying it down. Why wouldn't Howard remember them when he mentions all his white radio competitors from the 90's by heart till this day??

People still listen to Radio like that? :pachaha:

I wouldnt be surprised if Stern didnt remember Ed & Dre though..just imagine all the fukkery he's been apart of over the years.

Howard remembers...I've been paying attention to Howard since the 80's....Dude never acknowledges the urban market like that on purpose. He knows all the names of his competition. Thats why he always name dropped Imus and Rush Limbugh and Opie and Anthony. Star beat Howard a bunch of times in the ratings and till this day Howard acts like he cant remember his name......Howard does that lack of acknowledgement sh*t on purpose.
