Many people including Bret have stated that going to WCW was the worst move he ever made. His career went nowhere fast over there and the sad part was that WCW had a REAL DEEP roster at the time where Bret could have had more classics to add to his resume'
Sting
Jericho
Regal
DDP
Flair(He was still great at this time)
A feud with Booker T or a Feud with Benoit(Which they ended up doing but went under quick when Bret got hurt and Benoit left)

It was a tough situation because that NWO/WCW shyt was red hot and bringing Bret in, They were literally stuck in what to do with Bret. Putting him in the middle of the WCW/NWO war would have made him another guy on the roster instead of the hottest commodity in wrestling which he was at the time.

How would you have brought Bret in? Who would you having him feuding with to start?

Put him in nwo as another outsider the nitro after starcade 97 where sting won clean, and have him fued with sting from starcade to superbrawl for the belt, where hogan returns, and the nwo turns on bret. You do bret vs hollywood hogan until goldberg is ready, and book hogan/goldberg at starcade 98.

Nash and goldberg fued between starcade 98 and superbrawl 99.
Bret/savage/ddp/hall/luger/Steiner fued throughout 99.

He wrestled Sting, DDP (feuded for a few weeks, I think), Flair (feuded for a month or so) and Booker. None of those matches were anything special, in booking and in match quality. Which is a shame because they should've been automatic 4-star matches. I think Bret was still reeling at that time and his heart wasn't really in wrestling.

He should've been booked as a face allying with WCW. They had the right idea about him not wanting to see anyone else get screwed over. I would've kept him teaming up with Goldberg & Sting to take on the nWo and then eventually had him go over Hogan for the belt.

Definitely would've either booked a stable or feuds with Jericho & Benoit at some point as well.

His programs with DDP and Booker T produced some very good matches but they just didn't have that "it" feel to it because of how poorly they were booked.

I would of booked him HOT from the start and eventually started a Canadian stable with Benoit and Jericho. Would of booked him to be the one who either ended the streak or win the belt back from Sting/Hogan after Starrcade 97.

That crappy booking in WCW though.....it was just terrible. I hate even thinking back on this trying to create my own history

They should have bought him in and immediately let him feud with Hogan after he made the count against when the orginial one by Nick Patrick wasnt really fast. He could have said he screwd Hogan for all the times Hogan srewed him in the past. Then they could feud to be the number one contender for Sting's belt that he should have won and kept at Starcade instead of them holding it up. But that was the beginning of the end right there for WCW to me. After that buildup for a year Sting should have won clean with him and Bret eventually fueding for the belt.

I don't know what it was - he just didn't work out from the start. When I think of his WCW run - nothing really stands out. I guess the best thing to have done was give him a title run within his first couple of months and build him off that. His WCW run is just plain sad when you think about it.

Well...........

Starrcade 97 would've been a straight squash type match-up with Sting beating the hell outta Hoegan for a little bit until the NWO shows up, Sting fends them off one by one till the WCW locker room comes out to defend Sting

Savage slips through the cracks and is about to NAIL Sting with a foreign object but Bret Hart comes out of the crowd and NAILS Savage with a bat

Sting and Hoegan continue briefly, Scorpion Death Drop, Hoegan loses

Hoegan has a rematch with Sting at Superbrawl, Bret starts a program immediately after Starrcade leading up to a co-headlining match-up with Savage at Superbrawl...Bret goes over, Savage gets most of the offense though, wins with a reversal/roll-up type deal

At Souled Out, straight singles match with Hennig...Bret goes over/sharpshooter

Uncensored, Tag Team cage brawl Hart/Sting vs Hoegan/Savage...Hoegan/Savage go over, sets up Savage/Sting at Spring Stampede

Spring Stampede...Savage wins the WCW belt from Sting, Bret along with Jim and Bulldog take on Hoegan/Outsiders

Slamboree...Savage/Sting rematch, Savage retains (fukkery), Hoegan last minute pulls out (fake injury) of Bret Match, Hall replaces him, Bret goes over via DQ when Hoegan attacks while Bret seemingly on the verge of victory

Great American Bash...Nash calls out Bret for some get back immediately after Slamboree, Nash-Bret goes on, Hoegan attempts to cheat, costs Nash the match clean. Recently defected NWO member Hall takes on Savage for the belt, goes over, wins. It is Hall, not Nash, that starts the WolfPack

Bash at the Beach...Hoegan/Savage vs The Outsiders...NWO B/W vs Wolfpack for NWO supremacy; Bret takes on Flair (I liked that build up, I'd use it again), wins via sharpshooter

Roadwild...Bret this time takes on Benoit who's seeking revenge in a submission match, Bret wins; Hall vs Sting who was offered a spot on Wolfpack but doesn't trust Hall nor Nash, loses clean, realizes this isn't the same NWO of past, joins later on Nitro

Fall Brawl...Hall/Hoegan for the strap, Savage costs Hall the match, Hoegan regains the strap; Bret takes on Sting for the #1 contender, Bret goes over

Halloween Havoc...Bret/Hoegan for the strap, Bret wins the strap

World War 3...Bret/Hall for the strap, Bret goes over

Starrcade...Bret/Nash for the strap, Bret goes over; Sting goes over Savage for #1 contender

Superbrawl...Bret/Sting for the strap........Sting goes over

I would have still brought him in as a face, but what I would have done differently is have him go up against Hogan after Hogan lost to Sting at Starrcade.

The feud would have made sense since Hogan can say that Bret didn't have any right to make the 3 count and that he wasn't the ref. Bret could just bring up the fact that Hogan didn't have any right to win his title in the first place back at WM 9. The back-story was already there with Hogan not wanting to face Bret in the WWF.

That program would go on until April with Bret winning the first match, but Hogan winning the second. Hogan then faces Sting again and wins the belt (with help from The Outsiders). Hogan still faces Goldberg and drops the belt.

Bret and Goldberg form an alliance against the nWo, but Bret would turn on Goldberg in the summer of 1998 and those two would start a feud.

Then in 1999 I would have had him do programs with Sting, Booker T, Benoit, and Macho Man.

I would've put him in upper-midcard programs with Raven, DDP, Booker, Benoit, Jericho... guys that were good workers that he could elevate, but also have a great, entertaining program with.

You guys booking him as the face of the company and shyt are forgetting that Stone Cold driving monster trucks and zambiois, drinking beer, and fighting Vince, plus Rock/DX are on the other channel. Putting Bret Hart against that would kill the company a year sooner.

Kids thought WWF was cooler, but Goldberg and the Wolfpac were the cool shyt WCW had, to depush that would've been suicide.

Problem is, you don't and shouldn't have brought somebody in paying them $3 milly a year and put him on in the second hour. By the time Bret got in, the NWO angle kind of had ran it's course a bit
