It's their culture so I'm gonna respect it off the rip and try to learn a little bit their history. Each culture has their good and bad

This has helped me make a lot of connections

Don’t come to a country that you’re culturally diametrically opposed to. And then get upset when your children adopt those values you so much despise.

I’m so sick of these pussies pandering to these backwards cave dwelling Stone Age morons. It’s not about being tolerant, it’s about them thinking they’re above the law and they can enforce their primitive practices in their own enclaves.

If I moved to Japan, I wouldn’t have the audacity to not only complain how their culture isn’t compatible with mine. I wouldn’t then punish my children because they adopt Japanese customs. What kind of backwards shyt is that?

No one should be bending over for these a$$holes. Don’t come if you can’t respect the laws of the land. You come because it’s way better from that toilet you escaped from, but you want to be at odds with how we live once you get here?:camby:

Very, America is one of the youngest countries in the world. Other countries have been around for centuries more. We could learn a thing or two.

Depends on what you mean by culture. That's a complicated concept.

If you mean some practices that make sense in other social contexts I don't belong to, I observe them case by case and I either like them or I don't.

For example, I like ROSCAs (communal money pooling) whether they're practiced in Indian, East Asian or Caribbean communities.
I don't like honor killings.

But I don't make general judgements on entire "cultures", I think that'd be silly.
First of all because I know so little of any culture, even mines.
Second of all because I know how complex and dynamic they are.

So I'm not a priori respectful or tolerant of anything, nor am I a priori disrespectful or intolerant. If anything, I'm curious about the "whole".

It's a exercise in the futility of judgement which leads to absolutely nothing. The cultures in question have been around before you were born and will be here after you die. Having an opinion on them through the gaze of a western civilization born and raised individual is were the futility of said opinions come into question. They do the same with people like you to no more avail than the judgement from op.

I don't care about women's or gay rights outside of here, not my problem how they're treated over there

I don't get this logic when the world is more connected than ever. Why would a line on a map determine your empathy?
