If you have a damaged phone, but you would prefer to report it as lost instead of damaged because the deductible is the same either way, how do you stop the insurance people from tracking it?

Do you turn off gps coordinates and put the phone on airplane mode? will they still be able to find it if you do that?

Honestly I don't think you have to do nothing besides keep it off for a few days, you say it's lost and they believe that

They don't track anything they just blacklisted it. They block the esn or imei of the phone so it wont work anymore.

What kind of phone you have?

They call use always cell tower triangulation for approximate location or maybe it has a preinstalled app such as lockout security that has tracking capabilities. They do this to help you find your lost phone. But afterwards they will just block the phone if not recovered.

Turn it off, take the battery out, drive or walk somewhere where you can't be tracked via street cameras or anything else. Drop the phone into a sewer.

Just remember, it will give off one last signal of where it was. So don't be silly and start the whole process in your crib or a place that you usually are.

this would defeat the whole purpose

if you have a phone thats damaged you can take it to the store, pay your deductible and get a new phone

if you have a phone thats lost/stolen, you can pay that same deductible and get a new phone

reporting a phone as lost gives you the option to sell it as a phone with a "bad esn"

Bruh, people have been giving you bad info
The ONLY way to keep safe is to make a tiny tin foil hat for your phone
