so i'm following the stronglift program.

i've been stuck on the overhead press for a while at 95/100 pounds 5X5 for a while now. what i've tried is reducing the load by 10 percent and starting again from that point. but once i reach that wall i stall.

now the same thing is starting to happen to me for the bench press. i've deloaded twice now around 150 pounds 5X5.

one thing i'd like to know is if lack of progress in certain lifts can affect progress in other lifts. for example, i know those two lifts have some muscles in common. also what can i do to get passed it (i recently started doing push-ups, etc)

Eat more, if that doesn't help take a week off of lifting all together (full deload). If that doesn't help switch up routines with different rep ranges or exercises (dropping barbell bench for dumbbell for a month etc). Eating more usually does the trick for me.

^^^^cosign. eat more food. it's way easier to get stronger if you're eating more. you could also try to up your frequency if you're after strength and only lifting once a week.

Standing OH press is one of, if not the hardest exercise to progress in.

check your grip, try to get your fingers to touch your palm and the bar should be inline with your palm as opposed to on your fingers

squeeze your glutes and keep abs tight

refocusing on those 3 pushed me from the 95 i was stuck at to a respectable 115 :obama:

i'm trying to lose body fat but i'll definitely try to eat more. i've already tried taking a week off and it actually helped for my squats but i think it made a difference because i squat more frequently. on the other lifts i pretty much hit the wall everytime i get around those specific amounts of weights. but i'll trying eating more first, and see where that takes me. thanks for the advice.

take a break from lifting then come back. Rest is truly underrated.....
rest definitely helps sometimes. i've tried it already and it didn't really change anything for me on the bench and overhead press.

yup, it's the first one i failed on. very humbling. i do notice however that it uses a lot of back muscles and abs. i'm thinking of maybe adding some core work. maybe it would help on some of my lifts.

never really thought about glutes to be honest. i'll try that. what do you mean by incline your palms?
