I am just going off your thread title not your post but it does bring up some confusing scenarios. I don't understand how someone can believe in the devil or being a devil worshipper but not believe in god. If you believe god made the devil then you must believe god will win any war the two will have one day in the future and god is more powerful.Tariq talks about how the Haitians used their beliefs and practices to help them have a successful revolution. Its easy to stay loyal when you see results from god or religion so it made sense Haitians continued to believe.

Sort of a thread spin off is I can totally understand someone going from deeply religious and spiritual to becoming an atheist. To quote Jay Z again n*ggas been praying to God so long that they atheist. Its easy to relate to that sentiment as a black man in a worldwide system of white supremacy especially in this country as an African American you are seeing Christian people of all races who believe its logical that a loving God/Jesus would keep on blessing the descendants of slaveowners and not blessing the descendants of slaves even though reparations for slavery have never been paid to us by America.

If there is no heaven or god then it wont matter to the people who enjoyed blessings on earth but if you suffered on earth and there is no afterlife that your religion told you to patiently wait for then it is a big deal. Paying Reparations is the ultimate sign of this country truly being sorry for the evil they did and continue to do to us now just like they paid/still paying every other group they have wronged.

I use to work with this caccette who believed that stones and gems had special healing powers.

Talking about when she had a headache she would hold an opal stone to her forehead for an hour to alleviate the pain.

Not God the way christians see it, but I am spiritual. I still use common sense.
