How much would you spend on a child's birthday party?

Peep the thread of texts between me and my BM regarding my 3-turning-4 year old daughter's upcoming birthday party:

BM: Ja birthday coming up. I need some birthday money.
BM: I cnt afford to do a party with all of her las vegas friends.
BM: So i dont want to spend anyting..but u can.
Me: Well all of your concerns are moot until you start giving me solid estimates on costs for what you want to plan for her and the details of those plans.
BM: $1000
Me: Ridiculous.

I immediately got an angry profanity-laced call after my last response to her texts and am genuinely perplexed. To any of the folks on here with kids...what is the most you would spend on a birthday party for a child turning 4?

BM got me feeling guilty for not wanting to spend a grand on a birthday party, but I feel that's completely nonsensical.

Serious responses only please, as I'm trying to get some real life input on this shyt.

usually depends on the age of the kid but for me i aint spending more than a 100 bucks usually cuz all they care about is their gifts so lately ive been doing parties at home

so ive been doing straight cake and ice cream at home with them playing in the backyard or put the pool up

if they really want a party like chuck e cheese i tell anybody who invited i aint paying for the adults food and drinks i pay for your kids cuz its for them not for yall trying to free load

he ask me 4 some cash..so he can goto the food court..i give em some cash...he disappear..the 20 in 5s i gave him done turnt in to 140 bucks..all pinned to em...

get em outside n in the ryde..ask him how he got it...he say the women told him he was handsome...n was it my birthday...i said yea..so they give me money nikka did it today..on the way to the airport..

$1000 is riduculous for a 4 year old. Like has been stated it depends on age, the only birthdays you should even consider doing something big are 1, 5, 10, 16 (15 if you spanish), possibly 18 (but this generally the same yr they grad high school so that would spent on that), and 21.

no it aint..i ball out 4 my lil nikka..majority clothes n shoes..n toys...n he collect leggos n basketball n football cards...

n i make sure all his friends enjoy themselves.n they come back with they want..if ima go broke..its gone be behind my seed

My in laws are mexican and ive seen how much they spend fukk THAT HELL NO.

I told my wife aint no way in hell im spending thousands of dollars for that better of getting them a car with that kind of money

but my daughters are very young still but the fact they already talking bout that got me like this with my in laws :fight:

Are you talking about in general or just a bday? YOu said you took your son to 6flags with all his friends. Thats like $40 a person (possibly less since they so young) unless you paying for over 25 ppl I dont see how it would cost 1000.

If somebody is trying to throw a party for a 4yr that cost that much. Usually the parent is trying to show off and the party aint really about the kid. The kid wont even remeber it by next week.
