Got a wedding for one of my former co-workers and what is the customary amount of cake to give when the wedding is a wishing well?

$100?
$200?
$50?

I haven't done a wishing well wedding in a while, but last time I did, my money was kinda funny so I gave like $75.

I had to wedding to go to 2 weeks ago and declined.
But anyway, you give what you can.

People have this idea of at least paying for your plate. If you want to, so be it.
But I think that on some level, it's a bit ridiculous for people who throw weddings to expect you to subsidize it.

well, its either that or a gift, and money is easier than a gift IMO, so I'd prefer it.

why did u decline?

I also went to a wedding last summer, and it was at their house, and I didn't even stay for the reception. I gave like $50 that time, but I didnt even get a thank you card :aicmon:

Yeah, money is better, I think.

What I'm saying is, I don't like the expectation that some couples have.
Like "It was $150 per plate and this dude only gave $100...didn't cover his plate"

Cuz you know people talk after weddings.
Personally............I think weddings are a huge waste of money.

Option A - 50 grand for a wedding?
Option B - Or put 40k in the bank so that you can buy a home together? And just tell your wife she can take 10k to spend on whatever the hell she wants?

I think a lot of women would choose Option B.

Because I didn't really want to go. And I didn't even know this dude's fiance. Never met her. I'm not gonna spend my money on a woman I never even met.
To support my friend? (who I barely see anyway)
Nah man. Happy for your marriage. Enjoy. But I'm good.

well like I said, they were former coworkers and have been to my house a few times and I been to they house, so it's not like they are strangers. I already assumed I was gonna drop at least $100 when going to the wedding, so its not like I'm gonna be hurt by having to make that expenditure, cuz I had been planning to do for months leading up to this.

you're wrong. most men would choose option B and women would choose option A. its like they are obsessed with having a fairytale wedding. I think it's totally frivolous and would rather have the cash any day of the week.
