How much do West Indian culture influence Black Floridians?

I was listening to this

and I noticed YNW Melly has a bit of a Jamaican accent in the chorus. Knowing Melly from Miami, which has a decent sized West Indian community, I thought he probably picked it up from them (not sure if he's ADOS or not).

I know its kinda weird to think about this but I took cultural anthropology in college so it naturally comes through sometimes.

I'd say West Indian make up 25% of the black population of the state but it depends on where you live and what groups you're talking about. Haitians are the biggest followed by Jamaicans. A lot of are moving out of South Florida into the sticks.

I hate to agree but

I think it has to do with the level of poverty and exclusion in some spots down here.
