how long will AP's 2097 rushing yards be overlooked by him chasing the record ?

all I keep hearing is oh he was so close, people have forgotten that he has rushed for over 2k yards in this pass happy league that has linebackers that are faster and more athletic than running backs.....

fukk the record..... lets all toast to the boy AP for bringing the crown back to the runningback, a postition that has been thrown in the bushes for the last few years.....

didn't OJ the GOAT get 2000+ yards in 14 games? and everyone ignores that season and he had the GOAT season for a running back

we don't ignore what OJ did holmes, fact of the matter is 98% of us posting here weren't born back then.... besides OJ was running around slow ass linebackers and lethargic DL, AP did it in the most athletic times for defense in the NFL....

so yea its a muthafukin CELEBRATION !

Why are you not measuring CARRIES instead?

It took OJ 332 carries to reach 2,003 yards. He and Adrian averaged the same exact yards per carry. Adrian had the same amount of yards when he reached 332 carries.

just to put things into perspective..

OJ Simpsons 1973 season

GAMES:14 ATT:334 YDS:2,003 TD:12 YPC: 6.0

Eric dikkerson 1984 season

GAMES:16 ATT:379 YDS:2,105 TD:14 YPC:5.6

Adrian Peterson 2012 season

GAMES:16 ATT:348 YDS:2,097 TD:12 YPC: 6.0

Although O.J did reach 2,000 in 14 games, you could make the argument that he wasnt playing against these new breed of defensive lineman and linebackers. Most of those dudes from back in the day looked sloppy and slow, while todays defensive players are another level

dikkerson does have the record, but AD was just 8 yards away with 31 less carries..

This is a easy one for me, Adrian Peterson just had the greatest season by a NFL RB. You add on shyt like not having much of a passing game and defenses putting 8 men upfront trying their best to stop Peterson and he STILL puts up these type of numbers, on TOP of having 2 major knee surgeries less than a year from the season!...this dude could go down as THE greatest if he keeps running the ball like he does. Vikings wouldnt be playing this saturday if it wasnt for AP, give this man the MVP

:what: but with 2 more games OJ would still have the record today, carries or not that is a impressive feat in 14 games.

He would've and of course its impressive...just not as impressive as AP mirroring that production against more athletic defensive players one year removed from knee surgery.

And I can say that AD getting the same Carries within 14 games rather than 16 that he'd have just as an impressive year.

your sticking to dumb. The Vikings were in a playoff race while AD picked up yards. The Bills weren't and focused on getting OJ the record.

More was at stake for AD.
