I need some advice on this.
I have a neighbor that I'm friendly with but we're not really buddies. We say hi every once in a while and sometimes have small talk but I really don't mix with them like that. Anyway, I saw him outside late one night last week. He came up to me and started talking. Basically, he asked to borrow 50 bucks. He had some long ass story about how things are rough since his wife just had a baby. He said that he would pay me back the 50 on the 1st and I repeated it a few times to make sure we were on the same page. He also went on to tell me that it hurt his pride to ask me for it but he said he really needed it. I went to the bank the next morning and gave him the money like I said I was going to do.
Now the 1st was 2 days ago and I still don't have my money. I don't even need it right now but I can't stop thinking about it. I know it's only been 2 days but I feel like I'm being played for a sucker. I understand that things may be rough for him but if he wasn't going to have the money on the 1st, he should have been a man and told me. Hell, I would have respected him more if he told me that he didn't know when he'll pay me back rather than tell me for sure that I'll have it on the 1st.
I don't know if it's in my head or not but I feel like he's ducking me. When I'm outside, he's not outside. I saw his trash can in the front earlier before I went to check the mail. When I came back, the trash can was gone. I was ready to go knock on his door earlier to collect but my wife said that would be rude since he's having problems and I should give him some time. So now I want to know what the Coli thinks. Is 3 days long enough to give someone to pay back some money or should I give him a week, a month, or just wait until I catch him outside again?
