a pretty long time. our federal government is strong, our businesses arent as bearish as people think, and we'll stabilize ideologically. nobody really cares about the feds slowly cutting our rights cause the populace has too much everyday shyt to bother with. america definitely has more than a century left. probably much more, tbh.

People have been predicting the end of America's hegemony for decades. A lot of times the "signs" that America's fall is upon us are really similar. People seem to say this with some sort of anticipatory glee, as if to think that they're unique to make that kind of a call. The United States has a lot going for it that it competition doesn't have and although it's really fashionable to call Americans in general fat, stupid, arrogant, boorish, and lazy, this seems to ignore two very important things: That other countries face some very serious problems of their own that keep them from lapping us as civilizations and that we as Americans are more than willing to point out our own flaws and work on them.

The second is a very powerful thing and just might be the key to America's lasting power. I wouldn't root against us. This country is obviously far from perfect, but when it's at its best, my GAWD it's a great place to be.

the whole world depends on our economy. we're here to stay unless there's some sort of all-out nuclear war.
:killercac: thats what people really dont get. If we do go, the entire economy of the world on the demand side is fukked. The big 3rd world countries would descend into terrible poverty, to start with, and without us playing World Police there would definitely be some sort of all out conflict in the middle east. America is nowhere near as bad off as it seems. if we implode or split, we're going out with a whimper and not a bang, over the course of years and years and years

i agree. the vacuum that America's demise would create would lead to all sorts of chaos and not many people like the uncertainty of that.

a slow steady recession of our overall influence is what i see happening.
until the wide gap (and i mean really wide gap) between our military and
the rest of the world's military power is more comparable, America will be
on top due to brute strength because we have secret Alien Tech that we have
back engineered and been working on for the past 60 years...

Well, I mean, our economic and military power will decrease over time, but it's not like the country will just disappear one day.
