How long are we gonna keep pretending hip hop culture as it is, is negative and a terrible look for the black community?

And that it’s influence on the youth (specifically black youth) is not something we should be cool with at all

As adults we should be serious about this at some point :manny:

Or are we just gonna keep brushing it off and say “music doesn’t influence people” like the usual? Which we know is false

I mean this shyt clearly is NOT a positive note for us. If we just gonna keep tip toeing around it and pretend it’s not a real problem I’ll shut the fukk up I guess :yeshrug:

It’s built on the principles of rebellion, sex money and murder. We listened to the same shyt except when crime rates were higher in rl more than raps. Now, that’s reversed and it’s being aired on social media not just the news. I think people don’t like being hypocrites so unfortunately it won’t come from the adults it’ll be the youth that decides the culture

If someone is truly influenced by music they’re a fukking dumbass. Now there was gonna be steppers regardless Music plays a small factor into it. Crime rates were higher when hip hop wasn’t even around. Just say you don’t like hip hop it’s not that deep

People have always been influenced by music, especially the feelings it evokes. This isn’t new, in fact it’s the reason music is popular at all.

Anything that can create emotions through stories can influence people. Me talking to you could influence you but music can’t?

A movie/show can but not music?

I’m more concerned with the easy access to all the guns in the hood and the intentional things cacs did to create the never ending cycle of poverty. You dudes really have to stop being surface level thinkers. I promise if you care about the plight of the community you should be more concerned with politics than hiphop:ufdup:

Hip Hop culture as a entity isn’t a negative influence. Globally, it’s the most influential genre of all time. Free styling, graffiti, DJ and story telling.

Gangsta rap was just a inside scope in what’s spiraling in the neighborhood. Violence always been part of human nature. The story was just being told on radio.

Now if you’re talking about drill music most of these rappers are self incriminating themselves on video and waxx.

Eventually, their identities get captured. They either get caught in the street shyt or the police finds them.
