He was technically flawless to the point of being called a robot and is considered the greatest heavyweight of all time by many. However he fought an endless wave of cacs who looked like they had scurvy. He would have been great an any era because of his technical prowess, but I think he would have caught more L's in his prime if he had to fight the Fraziers, Foremans, Listons, Alis, etc.

historically speaking, I place Louis 4th all-time for HW (behind Ali, Foreman, Johnson). He was beating everybody there was to beat for almost 15 years.

His most notable wins: Walcott, Schmeling, (Max) Baer, Carnera, (Buddy) Bear, Conn

though he did have a few squash matches during his reign: Musto, Davis, Brescia, Simon

This is a real ignorant ass thread, borderline neg worthy...

First off dismissing Joe Louis as just a guy who "fought an endless wave of cacs" and then mention Sugar Ray a post later is...:gucci:

Unless you're talking about Ray Leonard, your argument makes no sense...

Louis had a lot of squash matches just like Ray Robinson did, both were notorious for having a bum of the month club and all that...but denying these men skills and ability because of that is asinine...They fought the best their generation had to offer and dominated them all...It was a very different era, Joe sometimes fought twice a month bruh, of course there are going to be some cans thrown in there...Joe Walcott, Max Schmeling, Max Baer Billy Conn and Primo Carnera were not cans though, those are HOF names to have on your resume...

Joe is the most dominant HW champion of all time.
The fact that he fought and held his own with ATG at the beginning and end of his career should tell you how good he was, no how great he was.

Id suggest you go on some historical boxing sites and actually start studying Joe Louis.

I said he was technically flawless as a boxer and simply questioned his competition. What the hell are you nikkas talking about I disrespected him? He would have took L's from other great heavyweights, that isnt a diss, heavyweights hit hard and are skilled and anybody can get knocked out or lose on points.
