So I've been critical of Taylor, but I give respect where it is due, he is an undisputed champ and has taken 5 0's in a row, 6 if he fights his mandatory Jack Catterral and wins. Josh Taylor is a top 10 P4P fighter right now whether you like him or not. He is not a small 140lber by any means he actually will probably end his career at 154 if I had to guess being 5'10. So the question is here for you how would he fare at 147, I'm gonna make a multiple choice poll and you can vote which fighters there YOU THINK HE CAN BEAT.

Picked Mikey Garcia .. still has no business at 147 imo
Picked Rashidi Ellis cuz I never heard of the guy
Picked Vergil Ortiz .. even tho he got a workrate , he lack defense and will walk into the same counters Ramirez walked into
Picked Keith Thurman .. because he need to retire and be a family man , the writing is on the wall

I voted for a bunch of fighters but some of the he'd be 50-50 with so he "could" beat them but wouldn't be a clear favorite to me

He beats:
Keith
Ugas
Swift
Ellis
Mikey

50-50:
Ortiz
Porter
Pac

Doesn't beat:
Bud
Spence
Ennis

A bit unpredictable because he's never been at 147 before but looks a big enough of a 140er to me to assume he wouldn't be in a serious size disadvantage.
Plenty of guys here who started in lower divisions and still doing good at 147.

Nah ..Thurman has been proven. Him coming off a injury layoff facing Manny wasn't bright. Should of done tube ups like Ward used to do.
What you've proven in the past doesn't matter when you have had 4 fights in 5 years and have had multiple injuries. Taylor isn't some unproven young guy, dude just had the best run @ 140 that we've seen compared to the last crop of elite 140lbers who moved onto 147.

3 years ago..he was p4p top 6. Only losing once and he is gonna be crushed by Taylor and Vergil Ortiz? Yeah fukking right..lol

Taylor can look great at 140 but he hasn't faced anyone like Thurman. Not even close.

Keith Thurman is a family man now
Keith aint no killer no more , Keith is the retired dad hanging with the wife and kids

future profession as a sports analyzer for PBC and FOX

plus , you purposely leaving out he's only had tune-ups and a loss to Old Man Pac in those 3 years , nursing injuries holding up the division to duck Errol Spence

Dude gives me Amir Khan vibes stylistically.
Amir Khan with a chin might be able to make noise at 147 :ehh:
If he "preserve energy" for half the fight against Bud he's losing tho

Taylor can absorb punishment, just not sure at 147.

Definitely the type of situation that we saw when Loma went up to 135, can’t back guys up just off purely shots when you out of place in a weight division.

I don’t know. He did a good job against someone who can crack at 140 in Prograis where he could neutralize him with size and distance... I’m not sure how he will react to some of those really strong Welterweights he won’t have a size advantage against. I’d favor Spence, Bud, Ennis, Porter, even Thurman.

Ortiz would be a real intriguing matchup. Stylistically, their way of fighting and positive attributes have an interesting dynamic.
