How do you practice or teach Black Respectability without creeping into White Acceptance/“Ur one of the good ones” ?

Manners

Kids that are NOI/Muslim adjacent are polite as fukk. Same with certain Christian denominations

My dad did shyt like get angry if my elbows were on the table.
Emphasis on Little shyt like that transfers over to other forms of etiquette and stays with you forever, because you don’t wanna be told shyt twice.

These young boys wilding don’t have a father upping the bass in his voice every time you don’t say thank you, or please. Or shooting you looks for slouching, or make you say “may I be excused”

Do it from a perspective of actually trying to elevate certain standard for yourself and others in your community.

Not through the lens of trying to gain respect from white people, but to benefit each other. Theres also a class element to it, not just race.

Also do it without being condescending or snooty, if we all knew better we'd do better.

Some people try to compensate and or act hard because it's what's cool. Having manner and or being smart was never cool in the hood hence the word nerd/lame. You have to change the whole culture (have integrity , morals and values) first before you ask this question.

I was always cordial growing up because I didn’t want to shame or disappoint my parents. How you act partly reflects how your parents raised you. Kids who have deep respect for their parents usually have deep respect for themselves and act accordingly.

Manners as previous posters said, remembering where you come from, and remembering that not everybody is gonna respect the color of your skin, no need to try to fit

Commune around an accepted mode without interference from other groups.
Talking too much to other people is how we got here in the first place.
