How do you keep track of all the "entertainment" thrown your way?

Let's start with the basics:

-TV
-Movies

Then you've got your own niches

-Video Games
PS3, Xbox, Wii, Handhelds

-Phone Stuff
Android/Apple

-Sports
Whatever you like

-Reading
Books, Comics

-Audio
Podcasts, Music

-Other
Forums, Hobbies, etc

And whatever else you've got that I can't think of.

How do you keep track of what's what? Do you ignore half the things? Do you know a bit of everything? Do you focus on your little subset?

Personally I'd like to know a bit about everything but find it impossible. I used to be into games, but now I know nothing. I've never gotten into the phone game. I've abandoned any type of reading except some magazines here and there. I follow sports, mostly soccer (hardcore), tennis, and the main sports somewhat. I used to be BIG into movies and know the whole scene, but completely clueless about it now. I try and keep up with TV series, but can't be bothered dedicating a certain amount of time, even though I do enjoy it.

Seems I just browse The Coli and read about everything a bit (but never actually get into it), follow sports, listen to some podcasts, and that's my entertainment. Sometimes I get ideas and start reading about subjects (I've been on the phone and gaming tip this week, just reading all I can) and end up moving on the next week without doing anything about it. The week before was good TV series I could get into, I've been watching a few of those, actually.

And this isn't even getting into the existential part of it all: Is this all necessary? Why do we distract ourselves? Is it a positive or negative influence?

How do you handle this proliferation of media brehs?

I honestly only watch sports and TV series. I love video games, but I can never bring myself to play them because when I do have free times I'd much rather throw on Netflix and spend hours watching TV shows. Then there's sports.. All day Sunday is dedicated to football.. I watch the Monday night and Thursday Night games as well..

I don't pay that close attention to music anymore, but really do almost all of my music listening while driving, about 10% while working out. I don't really watch too many TV series when they air, most TV series I watch I have on Blu-ray. Only shows I'm currently up to date on are Modern Family and The Office I think. As far as video games go, I have a sh!tload that are brand new, still in the plastic :/ same goes for Blu-rays I own. For books, only read when I'm taking a sh!t or traveling with my team in the coach bus.

Between my collection of Books (Nook + Hardback+NYTs+Time magazine subscription), DVDs, video games (PS3+Wii+ still some PS2), my comics (have my comic con tickets already), regular work out schedule, music (downloads+CDs), Netflix Library, traveling abroad, friends and fiance...and I have lost total control on any way of organizing and giving equal time to each activity. I simply do anything and everything on impulse now.

*watches his new Avengers Blu Ray bought from Best Buy last night*

Dont watch and check as much shyt as I used to at all but I still find myself downloading every show, book, comic and album out of habit but having less and less time to watch them. Same with DVDs..build a collection but barely watch them.

With sports too, its like I can watch the stream league passes but end up just watching the national tv game and sportscenter in the morning.

As far as shows go, most shows I'll download the episodes and put it on my external harddrive then when I have a day off of not doing anything I watch the entire season in one day. Same thing with movies, I'll just watch 5 or 6 in one day back to back.

I usually listen to my podcast shows while I play my video games so that's two birds with one stone.
