how do you guys put movies on your ipad's?

Im no a huge apple fan but got an Ipad 3 for Christmas

my biggest problem though is that it will only play MP4 which is a huge pain ... I dont want to convert everything every time I want to watch something ...and Im guesssing blu ray rips would be


is jailbreaking the best answer or is there an easier way ? any downsides to it ?

I use the VLC app but its been gone from the App Store for going on two years unfortunately. It takes pretty much ANY video format you can throw at it...


However there are several third party video encoders that you can download on your laptop and use to encode movies in the correct format. Just google "iPad video encoder" and I'm sure tons will pop up. One of my early favorites was Videoara but the most popular nowadays is probably Handbrake

handbrake is good for converting movies, i use it for converting all my dvd's & have done a few movies for my girl to put on her ipad as well.

Download mediaplayer from the App Store. It plays pretty much any type of video
