Hi, and thanks for reading! Here's the short version of my story. I didn't have my voice for a couple of years, and couldn't sing in that time. It absolutely destroyed me mentally, and I realized I couldn't do without singing and/or MCing.

Now I'm getting my voice back, and I realized I desperately want to record some tracks - as many as possible, in fact. But where can I find beats? There's so much stuff on SoundClick and places like that, I have no idea how to start looking in a systematic, structured way.

Do you have any tips on finding quality backing tracks? Please share the knowledge, I promise I'll pay the community back for any quality info I get!

Youtube's your best friend when it comes to that, just search up "[Rapper] type beat free" and you'll get a ton of tracks

Then just download the vid - YouTube to mp3

I try and stick with local producers. Go to beat battles network. Coli producers got some heat to. At one point I was heavy on the soubdclick wave would listen to 15 seconds of a beat and download if it had potential spend two hours doing that like maybe 3 times a month. And just go thru them on car rides lunch breaks. While I'm smoking. Making dinner. Its a grind to find the right beats if you don't have no one in pocket to provide that sound you looking for. You may luck up but your doing your self a disservice by not working one on one with someone At least every once and a while

Funny story, I'm a producer but, I started off rapping but, I couldn't find quality instrumentals without buying so I took the initiative to learn how to make beats and now I'm pretty good at it so, I don't even fukk with rapping anymore. :yeshrug:

I'm a DJ first and foremost,,, and a vinyl junkie... I just started kicking out beats a few months ago... So I have crates and crates of old school, funk, jazz, soul, and rare grooves... I have 4-5 crates of 45 i bagged from my pops a while ago...
i've found many gems, just digging thru my family records, who don't even play them anymore, garage sales, and even thrift shops...
