I was just reading how guy from Foxcatcher was saying most of the stuff in that movie is false. The same thing with Saving Mr. Banks.

does this making you feel different about the film being that one of the main selling points of these films is that they basically say "this is what happened" ?

depends on how much is embellished. Like The Butler, kinda upset at how much was made up

I don't really care

I always figured those biopics and "based on a true story" movies were phony

Its all entertainment to me :manny:
To me "based on a true story" means inspired by.. and main points are true ... rest are made up.... you know similiar to how comic superheroes have their canon original parts and the rest can be imbelished...

but isn't there a difference between "based on a true story" and a movie that is legit saying "this is what happened" ?

Foxcatcher isn't promoted to be "based on a true story" those guys are like "this is what happened"

malcolm X was the only biopic that was accurate

and maybe Wyatt Earp because it was so fukking boring it had to be real

based on a true story are movies like Paid In Full, Black hawk down, wolf of wall street, and american sniper

those can be embellished and changed up, biopics are suppose to be accurate, and the reason why are not is obvious
