Honestly i feel like the more talented producers are becoming tired of it just because its so redundant and everyone just bites each other mad hard. But its ALL rappers want. You can barely get beats off to people if your not making trap. Good luck finding some underground market of rappers who arent into either trap or straight boombap.

Personally im trying to put my own spin on trap, kinda like what mikewill did throwing a spacey vibe on it (you could say lex did it first with grove street party though). But honestly im just scared that as i get more into the industry, ill be forced more and more to make trap. Even now ill send a few beats to guys im working with, some might be trap while others are more ethreal, and no matter how awesome the other beats are, theyre only interested in the trap beats.

I cant imagine im the only one whose just waiting for this wave to die down. Its gotten even worse, at first trap seemed like it had a lot of potential but when everyone else jumped into it and diluted the shyt out of it, now we got the most rinky tink ass trap beats blowing up. I wouldnt even want to make bread off the style unless i made a product that i think is respectable, but atleast for me the situation im in doesnt really allow me to do much besides trap.

I don't feel anyway about them it's just apart of the current industry. However if trap isn't what you do there is always a place for you. Just because your sound isn't radio heavy doesn't mean you can't build your own brand and make people come towards you. Trap is cool, the sound is cool as long as every producer doesn't sound the same on em. My philosophy is if they can't tell it's your beat without your tag then....something is wrong. But I understand rappers want what they want.

They know you for what they know you for after all. For example if I'm an artist, I'm going to go to @TEKBEATZ for a particular sound. I'm going to go to @KushSkywalker for his sound ect. It's nothing more then that. The reason why trap is desired so much isn't just because of the radio, it's because of clubs, bars, Sports venues, Ect, if you can get your sound into multiple mediums then that's more money.

The Music business is really psychological. Music always changes Disco was hot in the 70's, Gangsta rap in the 90's. Trap rap today, tomorrow/today Dance music is bringing in a new wave. In short Trap is just what's it for the moment, but long term it's all about building your brand up.

I don't hate it, sometimes it's too simple. I like to mish mash, something from here , somethin from there

like fast hi hats on a boom bap style chop

or heavy 808's on a soul sample

or put the vocals of a sample filtered on top of original instrumentation

or even use a looped dusty drum breaks on some synths you would normally hear electronic drums with

So I do take some inspiration from it, snare rolls, bass, hats

Trap beats just like any style production when done at a high level sounds awesome. Trap is unique in the sense that it gets overrated an underrated at the same time because some people convince themselves that they've heard every type of trap beat once they heard one and that is technically an insult to those that have perfected the craft. They have a preconceived notion about that style and tend to not fully listen to the subtle transitions, different types of instruments.

I think if more elite lyricists rapped over trap production it wouldn't get shytted on so much. Most often cats hear a trap beat an think of some wack local nikka spitting struggle bars with some preschool chant for the chorus. Most people don't think about Nas spitting on "Quick to Back Down" or "My President is Black" or Luda's verse on "Stomp" when they hear a trap beat being mentioned. nikkas automatically envision the worst.

At the same time whenever most people hear a dope boom bap beat or some soulful sample nikkas start imagining AZ spitting or Common dropping bars. nikkas automatically picture the best cats going in on it. Nobody hears a dope boom bap instrumental and start saying to themselves "I wonder how them nikkas from Group Home would sound on this." or "Memphis Bleek would prolly sound nice on this joint."

It's an unfair comparison that happens all the time, but such is life.

Edit: Forgot this was a forum for producers. lol.

Anyways for those of you that play EDM (redundant) Trap how do you feel about Jersey Club making its way into sets? Ive noticed its mostly outsiders introducing it to the masses, just like Trap music, and Dubstep before that.

I'm not mad on trap beats in general but how do you feel about these beats, from a UK producer who worked with Danny Brown?

Those beats are aight. They not wack. Just not feeling 'em. They sound like some shyt you would hear on a ride at a carnival or amusement park.
