The “Creative Arts” Emmys winners are announced at an untelevised ceremony a week prior to the “main” event. This is where alot of the “technical” awards are handed out and some of the minor acting awards as well.
For instance Dave Chappelle won his Emmy for hosting SNL at the Creative Arts ceremony last year and joked that he was gonna wear it on a chain when he presented at the main awards.

All won last week. Making them the first African American foursome to sweep the guest acting categories.
