IMO James Cameron was the beginning of the problem. Gift and the curse if you will. When they got away from the concept of several intelligent humans being confronted with one single creature beyond their comprehension, they lost their way. I liked the sequel, but it was typical of Hollywood in that this one creature fascinates and terrifies audiences.......so in typical Hollywood fashion......"lets give them multiple Xenomorphs! And lets give them a super Xenomorph that we'll call a queen!!"

At that point any mystique the franchise had went right out the window. Ridley tried going for that same intelligent suspense with the Engineer, but it wasnt the same. The Xenomorph is one of a kind. They killed it when they allowed Cameron to exploit it. To be honest, even though I'm rooting for Ridley, I fear they cant capture the same magic in the original film and need to stop chasing it. Ridley probably felt somewhat the same, hence Pronetheus.

LOL James Cameron was the beginning of the problem? So your suggestion would've been to just copy what Ridley did on the first one for all the sequels? Cameron had no choice but to go a different direction, and they did go back to a single xenomorph in Alien 3 and fox interfered with David Fincher and fukked the movie up, even though the directors cut is still pretty good imo. Ridley wanted to make an ancient astronaut movie, he wasn't specifically trying to bring back Alien to a more cerebral scifi.

I don't know which cut I saw. But I though Aliens 3 was good. Was it the greatest of all times no. but it damn sure put the trilogy up there imo. I stan Aliens hard.

Nah bruh, James made one of the sickest sequels of all time. Aliens is untouchable. Ridley couldn't top Aliens with promethus nor this new one he has coming up.

Prometheus and AvP killed my interest for xenos. :ld:A lack of origin added more to creepiness to the xenos, its like how they don't tell you explicitly where the Cloverfield monster came from. Tossed in the Predators and you made them look cotton soft. :upsetfavre:

I get where you're coming from but still Aliens was a sick sequel nevertheless and by showing the fields of alien pods in the original movie this made it a natural progression and a obvious choice to have numerous aliens in the next film. It wasn't un-natural and forced like some sequels tend to be. One of the best sequels ever made imo.. up there with Godfather 2, Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, Terminator 2 and so forth

Isn't the Alien game canon with the movies? It takes place after Alien and you play as Amanda Ripley
It is and it's a good game... Really intense, Alien AI is sporadic. Could've been a GOAT game if a few gameplay elements were tweaked.

I have it but barely play. Sometimes I watch a couple people I follow on Twitch play and it's hilarious

It was too hard for me. I got to the end but still couldn't beat it, sucked that you had to manually save everything and backtrack constantly
