Not necessary, if he has a thick texture when he brushes it out then adds a thick moisturizing product, it be straight like that and if he has thinner hair texture then even better he can just comb it out. Plus with the texturizer he can go back to curly whenever, which is pretty convenient & more bang for your buck in general.
