The big movies in the US are usually big in the UK. How does a movie like James Bond (Possibly one of our biggest off the top)

Most British movies only get limited theatrical releases in the U.S.

The Bond films on the other hand are an international Blockbuster movie franchise so the Bond movies are always Blockbuster hits in the U.S.

Bond isn't really looked at as a "British" movie over here despite its innate "Britishness". Bond movies are considered just another Hollywood blockbuster like any other big time franchise.
And looking at the top movies in the UK for 2016 so far the first homegrown flick on the list doesn't even show up till #16 in Eddie the Eagle. Its made $15 million in the US. Most UK movies like this don't get super wide releases over here. At least not unless the movie starts to get awards buzz.
