Like, what in the actual fukk?
Has he become such a mouthpiece for the right that he ignores his own instincts? Or was Letters just a brilliant screenplay that he opted to stick to?
For those who haven't seen Letters, it's the story of the Iwo Jima campaign told from the perspective of the Japanese soldiers. It's an incredibly intimate, somber and deeply respectful look at war from the POV of our enemies. It has all the nuance and honesty that was sorely lacking from American Sniper.
IMO, it's Eastwood's finest work and one of the best anti-war movies ever made.
