You begin to realize that YOU are actually separate from your body. But at the same time, you realize YOU are the housekeeper of that domain and it's up to you to keep it in check. It gives you a mental clarity in that regard that I lacked when I wasn't in shape. The more you realize that your body is your temple, you'll do more for it, understanding that people are drawn to accommodating spaces.

It also prompts you to examine other parts of your psyche the same. For instance, once I got back in shape, I realized I want to take care of and treat my mind with the same attention to detail that I now apply to my body. I got back into reading voraciously and dove back into things like programming to keep my mind in check.
Sorry for the abstract, new agey explanation but :yeshrug:

Mentally u feel happier and better about yourself. You take a different approach to life as well. Im not one to judge but sometimes when im out running errands i stay :scust: at how many over weight people there are out there. Being fit wil open your eyes up. Funny thing is id like to help these people but theyd probably get offended if some random dude came up to them offering to help. Obesity is a disease and the cure is there for u

I have social anxiety disorder. I remember in college going to the cafeteria before it was closing, seeing a crowd, leaving, and going to bed hungry. I was a mess unless I had my crew with me or smoked weed to create a comfort zone. shyt was bad at times and I was depressed a lot. Once I started lifting 2 1/2 years ago it hasn't been much of a problem. I have way more self confidence and esteem. I walk into rooms with my head high not a giving a fukk. Ladies are 'miring the gains:shaq:. No one 's calling me skinny anymore. It also gave me direction and focus. Changed my life and I'm not even at my goal yet:wow:

I don't have any issues with women but I've noticed the quality of women seems to have gone up after I started going to the gym more. I am not sure if I look that much better physically, or if I'm just mentally more confident. Being able to pick up a woman and carry her to bed does help set the tone in bed as well I'd guess.

It's interesting how the world treats you better just cuz you are in shape

Those of us that were coming from the opposite end know how it feels to be ignored and even looked down upon for how you might look

If you are in great shape as a man your instantly respected by most other men and receive much more attention from women

If you are a woman the affect is even stronger

as a ugly/heavy/bad shape/etc woman is basically invisible to majority of men even the out of shape men....it's completely opposite once you are in shape/hot

The same principles that drive your approach to fitness also carry over into other parts of your life. If you don't allow yourself to get lazy and complacent with your workouts, that same mentality will carry over into your work life and other parts of your life too.

1000% true. Since getting back into shape my mind has been focused on my future. My wife was happy settling down in this 3 bedroom duplex when we first moved in 7 years ago. Now I've told her i plan to getting us a 4 bedroom house by 2020 and she's all for it. Honestly if i hasn't gotten my health right and got fit I'd wouldn't even thought about upgrading our living conditions because i was stuck in neutral for so long :wow:

mentally it changed me in many ways but one that really sticks out is this.

getting into the gym changed whole mindset and perspective on life. going into the gym everyday and busting improving my speed and strength, and condition where i never imagined. while watching someone who comes into the gym once a week, walk on the treadmill and doesn't try to challenge themselves. this showed me there are people who are motivated and believe sky is the limit and, on the other hand, people who are satisfied with being mediocre and live with a ceiling over there head.

i'm not even 30, and quit my job in november to work for myself. i daytrade full-time and alot of my inspiration is because of what i went through in the gym. i believe training/working out in the gym is more mental than it is physically, especially cardio.
