It was good but it was basically the privileged white guy meets the misunderstood black guy. opposites yadda yadda yadda. Done a million times before. Solid storytelling but not Oscar material.

The last foreign language film that had a legitimate shot at the overall Best Picture was A Separation.
But of course you know the good ol' US. They'd rather give it to a silent french film, subtitled (2012) (which was good) than a subtitled iranian film (2011).

It lost the Golden Globe to Amour.......another highly rated movie I haven't seen, but the Intouchables was a lot better than I thought it would be
Wasn't even nominated for an oscar...
Just looking at the other nominated movies in the foreign category, I can't see how any of them could be any better than The Intouchables to be honest, but I gotta see em before I prejudge
