One of the most overlooked MCs right now, despite his associations with J. Cole. Bas dropped one of the best albums of 2014 (Last Winter) but a lot of hip hop publications acted like it didnt exist even.

A Queens rapper too. New York is a large city and is the Mecca of hip hop, but its no secret the scene has been struggling compared to Chicago, ATL, and LA in recent years. Bas could be one of the guys they need.

This is an odd and random thought. Are you Bas? Are you a Dreamville intern? Are you affiliated with him in some shape or form? Nobody is checking for that nikka like that. You know damn well why NYC isn't "putting him on" Isn't he signed to J Cole? That should be the one who has the responsibility of "putting him on" He's a decent rapper from what I've heard, but no one is seriously checking for dude like that. He doesn't seem to be the most marketable guy either. The best thing he has going for him is the exposure he can gain from his affiliation with J Cole. I don't see stardom in his future. I'm sure he can carve out a nice niche for himself though. I wish him the best.

He's a pretty average rapper with not much appeal...

I don't think he grinded in the city like that never heard of him on the underground circuit. He's an unknown in the mainstream I don't even think Cole ever gave him a feature on his albums. :manny:

As far as mainstream music, new york is done.
Asap Rocky, Joey Badass, Action Bronson and Nicki Minaj (and Fetty if we're counting close areas like we do in Atlanta and La's case) that's 5 new and relatively hot rappers. Not too many other cities have more than 4-5 hot new rappers, perhaps La and Atlanta. So far from done just not the unthreatened #1.

me
There are so many talented cats spitting 10 times harder than Bas that can't get a break. It's really oversaturated in ny, alot of nikkas getting lost in the sauce

Kinda like J. Cole :francis:
Not at all like J. Cole... :francis:

Cole came out the gate with hot punchlines, storytelling ability and an ability to actually put raw emotion in his music and harmonize melodies on hooks as well as produce.

Women liked J. Cole and regular dudes related, he appealed to that whole high school to college generation. So he actually brought a lot to the table and had co-signs from heavyweights.
