Punk held the title for 400+ days. If it wasn't going to Rock, it was going back to Cena. Instead of being mad about Rock getting the belt, people should be pissed that he's handing it to Cena instead of putting someone over who could use it.

If he was a true all time great, he would of made something happen. Austin did. Bryan is saddled with tag team comedy and still steals the show.

Bret Hart is an all-time great and nobody gives a fukk about his era :manny:

Stone Cold had coked out boss Vince to play off of, which is what people tuned in to see. Punk dropped his sit-down pipebomb and instead of running with him they used him to keep Rock's seat warm.

EDIT: They could have had a great Vince-Austin dynamic with Punk-Laurinitis, but they REFUSED to have that motherfukker do anything overtly heel.
So it just came off as Punk bullying a dorky retail manager.

If Cena didn't win the RR beforehand, I honestly don't think people would be as frustratingly jaded about Rock's win as they are now.

I'm glad they didn't prolong the feud between Punk/Rock...I mean, hell, we get to see Rock in an Elimination Chamber match. That'll make a lot of people happy, no doubt.

But to me and a lot of others, it's mostly because Cena buried the Royal Rumble in a promo before winning it, just so he can get his receipt at Wrestlemania for Twice In A Lifetime™

Punk lost his steam during some Nash nonsense in 2011..where was these concerns then?

I would be behind A Rock title reign 100% if it was gonna be used to elevate a new star( Ryback,Bryan,Ziggler, maybe Punk) like his 2002 run where he dropped the belt Lesnar at Summerslam. Him winning just to lose to guy whose been the face of the company for 8 years and already beats everbody isn't that interesting. Add on to the fact that the Rock/Cena build was straight :snooze: last year.

The Rock being Champion is fine and a great business move but knowing all roads are just leading to Cena and 2013 offically being "his year" is just :mjpls: and impossible to get excited about.

Watching him win was a fun moment as a longtime Rock fan, but that was it. The Bigger picture seems rather bleak tbh.

So you're more concerned with Punk being "all-time great" in a worked sport then the actual narrative quality of a title reign? :childplease:

The IWC is full of idiots who don't understand how business works. That's why they don't understand the very basic concept of why Rock/Cena gets a rematch.

Aren't you the same dude going around claiming Byran is a jobber without Kane:smugcheeseeyes: You know back on :hamster: u use to get that work from courtdog of all ppl and quiet frankly it should still be that way

What do you mean? How does anything I said denote that I'm not concerned with the narrative?

Also... whether it's worked or not. There are greats and there are everyday 9to5 wrestlers that come and go. :goatshrug:

Breh Hogan is my avi...lol I loved it when Hogan won the belt at mania 9 and in 02

Like it or not Rock brings asses to seats and television screens...and yes a lot has to do with Rock not being around for 10 yrs...if he stayed around there would be diminishing returns

But guys like Hogan (maybe not presently) shawn michaels, austin, have built enough equity to credibly carry the belt at any given moment and garner interest ratings and main event credibility if they can perform at 60%-80% of their prime work rate in the ring.

There is no doubt that Rock is a draw. My problem is does he need the belt to feud with Cena at this juncture? No.
