How can I practice game purchase restraint?

Because I'm going crazy right now.

I wanna get Spiderman, but I still gotta finish BG3, Armored Core, probably Starfield eventually, and not to mention the older games on gamepass/ps plus.

Should I just be patient and finish these games, or just say fukk it and buy it tonight?

If you’re in the middle of 2 different games I would just finish those before buying anything else. Even if you know you’re gonna get a game eventually you may as well wait til it potentially goes on sale later if you have other games to play in the meantime

Starfield and Baldur’s Gate are both massive games that you probably don’t want to juggle alongside other games so if anything I think a good middle ground would be to finish Armored Core, play spiderman if the hype gets you, and then go back to those other larger RPGs

Generally speaking I try not to buy games before I’m actually ready to play them unless I find a crazy deal and even then I never have more than a single game on the backlog

You can burn yourself out on games once you just start playing shyt to check it off a list. There’s so many great games out there you can’t possibly play them all so just focus on the games that actually resonate with you and compel you to play them

One game in the backlog is amazing. I had to admit to myself that many of those are going to be regulated to never touching again.

Only buy what you're willing to play upon purchase. I do this now, unless it's something that goes on sale. I'll day 1 anything that I know I'm going to play day 1. If I'm not going to play day one, then outside of super sales, I'm not going to buy until I'm more likely to play it upon purchase.

I haven't started Spider-Man 2 because of this even though its in my library and I pre-ordered. :snoop: I outright don't have enough time anymore to game like I used to. I'm still playing Starfield. Literally just reached Akila City with Sam two days ago and I've had it since early access. I completely restarted Cyberpunk after the update, which means Phantom Liberty hasn't been touched & I haven't even scratched the surface of BG3. I'll start SM2 around Christmas after I finish Starfield and juggle that & Cyberpunk. There's so much to play right now but so little time to do so. At least for me.

Eventually all the games you’re buying that you haven’t caught up with yet will go on sale and you can get them cheaper.

Buying MK11 day one is what did it for me. They released MK Aftermath and DLC full priced regardless so I will never ever buy another game full price unless it’s something I’m 100% hyped for like Spider Man. Obv being a working adult takes away from my ability to put the time in as well.

Realize that you are running in circles between copping a game, getting through a backog, and enjoying the game that you put time into. Once you come to grips with avoiding the FOMO, you will see the light that gaming is a oversaturated platform, and it is okay to wait for a sale.

This is coming from a marsupial that has more games than God, but would rather play World of Warcraft.
