He would have been a goon heel that roughed babyface's up in route to getting their title shot kind of like Bossman.
His rise to main event level against Triple H was based on being a quietly charismatic badass. I think that works in any era, but in an in-your-face environment like the Attitude Era it might have taken a little longer because he might have been outshined by some of the louder personalities.
I do think he would have eventually gotten to the top of the card, though.
it really does...IDK why being a 'tough guy' isn't such an OBVIOUS way to get over. It ALWAYS WORKS. A tough guy that is convincing that he'll beat you down works as a heel or face. Its the only reason randy orton is still over; its because he beat the crap out of tons of people and took a ton of damage from foley and others and still went over. Same thing with JBL and steve austin and even rock went over like that. Yeah the charisma put him over the top but really the dude was fighting like 9 guys in some matches vs the corporation and he still went over. It was all TAZ had and he was stupid over in ecw.
being a tough guy >>>>> having a catch phrase.
he would have been test/prince alberts
