wow, this is bullshyt. I wish this story got more recognition and the police were forced to fork over the video from the phone.
I get angry when I hear stories like this but I don't really know what I could do to bring awareness

Spread the message. Spread it on your facebook, twitter, forums, etc..
It's only when we start exposing this that things will have a chance of changing. The police and politicians know this too, this is what they confiscate cameras and pass legislation that makes it illegal to film PUBLIC employees.
