Woman killed, several wounded in shootings across city | WGN-TV
1 person is dead and several others wounded in separate shootings across Chicago today.
18-year-old April McDaniel was shot and killed and four others were injured this afternoon on the South Side.
According to the Chicago Fire Dept, the five individuals were shot in the 5700 block of S. Sangamon St in the Englewood neighborhood.
April was shot in the throat and later died. Her cousin, 15-year-old Charles Drane and 20-year-old Fredrick Collier were also shot. Collier was hit he was hit in the hand and the leg andhis brother said he didnt recognize the shooters.
A green Jeep Cherokee with Wisconsin plates suspected in the shooting ended up burned out and abandoned in the 1400 block of West Garfield.
Police forensics are already combing the scene.
There are no suspects.
Earlier, two people were shot this afternoon on the North Side.
According to the Chicago Fire Dept, a 21-year-old female and a 20-year-old male were shot near the intersection of Lawrence and Sheridan in the citys Uptown neighborhood around 3:30 p.m.
The woman was shot three times and taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the knee and shoulder. The man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee.
In two additional shootings this afternoon on the South Side, a 16-year-old and a man were wounded.At 2:48 p.m. a man was shot multiple times and critically wounded in the 7000 block of South Bishop Street in the Englewood neighborhood, according to the fire department. He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.A few minutes later, at 2:56 p.m. a 16-year-old was shot in the hand in the 8800 block of South Burley Avenue and taken in good condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital, according to the fire department.-Chicago Tribune Contributed to this report
