The majority of people hate on that Alliance angle in 2001 because of the way they made the WCW so much weaker than the WWF. But, we know that the WWF couldn't get any of the really big stars like Hogan, Flair, Sting, Nash, Hall, Steiner, and decided to not buy them out, which was a mistake on there part, but why would the big stars want to get out of that contract when they could make the same amount of money or more at home chillin', rather than making that money wrestling. And the talent that was part of the angle was weak as fukk, besides Book and DDP, who else on the WCW roster were even big stars? Lance Storm? Mike Awesome? Hugh Morris? There were no big stars that would make that WWF-WCW angle work imo with the talent they were allowed to work with during the angle.
Did yall really want to see Hugh Morris trying to beat up and have an angle with Kurt Angle or Chris Jericho? IMO they could have done something with Awesome, but the dude didn't like being with WWE, but they could have done something, but WCW ruined him. And Lance Storm is dope in the ring and was dope on the mic in WCW, but was he a top guy or be seen as a top guy? Not really. So WWF did what they could, they couldn't just give up on Austin as a heel and turn him back, so they did what they could do to the best of there abilities. I liked that WCW-ECW Alliance squad until they added Stephanie and killed that part, and yea the fukked up DDP for no reason with some stupid stalker gimmick, but most importantly, we got RVD in the WWF, which was dope as fukk.
Yea they could have done a better job on maker the Alliance look better and stronger than the WWF, but there wasn't no one in that WCW angle that were on Rock or Austin level, unless they got the NWO, Sting, etc. but they weren't part of the angle, so looking back, the WWE did what they could do to the best of there ability, and IMO the 2 people I cared most about during that angle was Book and RVD. RVD was so over as fukk, like no joke he was on Austin and Rock's level of overness. I was like mann they should have gave Van Dam a run at the belt after this one:
And after that Alliance angle, it gave us that funny as fukk feud between Austin and Book:
