"In the United States black males are twice as likely to be held back in elementary school as white males, three times as likely to be suspended from school, and only half as likely to graduate from college. Good thing Stephen R. Stafford II didn’t listen to all of those negative statistics.

Stafford, who is from Lithonia, Georgia, started his education playing school with his older sister when he was only 2 years old. Now 17, he is set to graduate college with a triple major and could complete medical school by the time he turns 22.

Many of the horror stories we hear about the African American achievement gap, particularly for black males, is related to public schools. Stafford’s mother was not about to take that chance and homeschooled him. By the time he was 11, his mother found that he was too smart for her to teach, even though she was quite intelligent. She had him audit Algebra II at Morehouse College in Atlanta. The next year he aced precalculus and Morehouse College allowed him to officially enroll.

Though he will graduate this year with a triple major in pre-med, mathematics and computer science, he doesn’t see it as anything special. In 2010, he was quoted as saying, “I didn’t know what the big deal was about…I just knew it was the next step in my education–and I’m gonna do what my mother tells me to do.” Now those are words of wisdom worthy of a young man who has just been named one of the “World’s 50 Smartest Teenagers.”

After graduation, Stafford will attend Morehouse’s School of Medicine and one day specialize in obstetrics and fertility. The classically trained pianist says, ““I’m just like any other kid. I just learn very, very quickly.”

While not every child can turn out like Stafford, we have to wonder just how many more great achievers there would be if they were given the same educational opportunities. Granted, not every parent has the ability to home-school their children but it is amazing what can happen when they do. "

I remember when he picked Morehouse too it was on the news.
If y'all dont wake up and see we need to educate our children ourselves
:wow: :blessed: :mjcry:

He from Lithonia too so his folks already know whats up
:wow:

Imagine if our top athletes and scholars went to HBCUs
:wow::mjcry:

Get the facilities up and I don't think it's too far fetched. Problem is that the PWI boosters would throw even more money "on the low" to the top tier athletes and their families.

HBCUs would have the facilities if top athletes never stopped going to them. Black Athletes made PWIs the multi billion dollar industries they are today, and PWI boosters pay top dollar to keep it that day. Football is one thing but Basketball if the top 6 players went to Howard, they could shake up the NCAA because b ball doesnt require the infrastructure football does and the winner of the MEAC conference gets a seat in the NCAA tourney where anything can happen.

I definitely think it could be done in hoops. Get some rich black booster to make some super ass athletes dorm and training center and shyt and start the process. Problem is that someone would snitch on the black boosters and the bagmen....probably a hatin' ass c00n nikka.

That would be dope and could work but, sadly it won't becuase most blacks have self hatred and benefiting whites is their purpose in life when they aren't being self destructive.:mjcry:

its crazy, look at how Kentucky got like 5-6 of the top players in one class, then look at the times HBCUs have had cinderella stories in the national tourney. B Ball would be the easiest to do, but I would think Football is the real money maker.

We could do it next year if we wanted. Easy. Smooth. No problems. :mjcry:

But self hatred is utterly dominate outside of a few thousand people and they not athletes. Why we gotta use all our gifts to help our open vicious enemy who is trying to kill our babies:mjcry:

at the end of the day the avg ESPN top 20 athlete is some single moms ticket out the hood, so they not going to risk it trying to prove a point. Look at Denzel Washington, his ton was a beast and he sent him to Morehouse to play football, I believe he had a short stint in the NFL (never a starter) before doing the acting thing on that TV show ballers. Lotta families can't afford to do it because many HBCUs can only offer scholarships that cover tuition and then maybe get Pell grants to help for housing.
