This bit of news will either make too much sense or absolutely no sense depending on which side of 1985 you were born in. In an interview from a few years ago that has only gone viral now, writer/producer Kermit Frazier, who worked on PBS’ children’s detective show Ghostwriter from 1992-1995, revealed that the titular writer who also happened to be a ghost was a runaway slave. Who was murdered. By his masters. And some ravenous dogs.

The show was taken off the air before the kids had the chance to solve their biggest mystery — who was Ghostwriter? Producer and writer Kermit Frazier revealed Ghostwriter’s identity in a recent interview.

“Ghostwriter was a runaway slave during the Civil War,” he said. “He was killed by slave catchers and their dogs as he was teaching other runaway slaves how to read in the woods. His soul was kept in the book and released once Jamal discovered the book.” (Via)

This is somehow worse than finding out Inspector Gadget was put together by Nazis. At least then we knew something weird was going on, considering his preference of hanging out with blonde-haired, blue-eyed children.

Damn. Makes sense why he was talking to Jamal though. He was just happy the young brother could read.

How in the hell would they put that on children's television. Especially in the early '90s. I wasn't alive then but something like that would attract a lot of controversy.
