The amount of genre pushing genre defining top notch film making that came from that era is breathtaking. b*stardized movie concepts & franchises that have been ran into the ground since Got it’s starts in the 70s. Maybe a case can be made for quality in earlier generations but the staying power & impact of 70s movies can not be compared

Not even close

Do you blame Michael Cimino with that Heaven’s Gate debacle in the early 80s?

Studios gave filmmakers less independence after Cimino went way over budget and sunk UA

70s was such a golden age and real improvement over the 60s. They really brought the grit starting in 70 or 71.

60s movies don't use the word "fukk" even if it's a crime drama, it gives it a real old timey vibe.

if all people want to watch is scorsese, then yeah. for other types of film from hollywood, other eras still dominate. hell, the peak of black movies in the mainstream hollywood system was the 90s. while i love spaghetti westerns, they are not the epitome of the western genre, so the decades before the 70s are more relevant for that. spectacles and serials are done better today, and so on.
